Clear the List: What Teachers Are Quietly Carrying
Classrooms are built on love. But stocked by their paychecks.
Before your child walks through the classroom door…
Before the first story is read or the first pencil is sharpened…
Your child’s teacher has already spent hundreds of dollars of their own money—just to make the room ready.
Flexible seating?
Classroom libraries?
Tissues, wipes, snacks, calming tools?
None of it is guaranteed. And most of it isn’t funded.
The Hard Truth:
Teachers spend $600–$1,000+ out of pocket every year.
And it’s not reimbursed.
They do it quietly. Automatically. Because their students deserve it.
But they shouldn't have to.
What Can You Do (That Really Helps)?
- Buy something off a teacher’s Amazon wishlist
- Drop off extra supplies at your child’s school
- Tell a teacher: “What do you need most this year?”
- Share this article. Spark the conversation.
Teachers show up for our kids every single day—even when it costs them.
This year, let’s show up for them.
Because gratitude isn’t just a thank-you card.
It’s action.
That’s why we launched the Clear the List Challenge last week, spotlighting real wishlists from teachers in our own community. These are educators who pour their hearts into shaping the minds (and hearts) of our little ones—and this is our chance to say, “We see you. We’ve got you.”
Whether it’s glue sticks, books, or creative tools, every single item on these lists supports students directly.
