One small change can open a world of experiences for millions of people...
and it can start right here.
It starts small. A child walks into a room and freezes. The noise is too loud, the lights are too bright, the space feels overwhelming. For many families, this is an everyday reality and it often means leaving early, avoiding certain places, or missing out altogether.
But what if we changed that...starting today?
Sensory inclusion isn’t about special treatment it’s about equal opportunity. It means creating spaces, events, and experiences where everyone can participate without fear, discomfort, or isolation. It’s dimming the lights during a movie, offering a quiet corner at a festival, or training staff to recognize sensory overload.
We’ve seen firsthand in our community how one small change, like providing noise-canceling headphones or offering sensory-friendly hours, can open doors that were once closed. And it’s not just a kindness; it’s a necessity for millions.
The CDC estimates that 1 in 6 children experiences sensory processing differences. That’s in every classroom, every playground, every neighborhood.
Here’s our challenge:
We’re asking families, schools, and businesses in our area to take the Sensory Inclusion Pledge to commit to one change this year that makes your space more welcoming.
Because the more we normalize inclusion here, the more likely this movement will ripple far beyond Missouri.
