This week, I found myself in the heart of Knob Noster Missouri at Bread&Brew, and let me tell you — it’s the kind of cozy, homemade magic we all need in our lives. But wait, there's more...

The Experience:

A Backyard Campfire in a Cup

I was treated to a drink called Backyard Campfire — a coffee base swirled with toasted marshmallow and mocha syrup, topped with honey cold foam. Friends, I haven’t had a coffee like this in years. It was perfect in every way — smooth, sweet, and cozy without being overpowering. Pure happiness in a cup.

And then came the food. I ordered the everything bagel sandwich with egg, cheese, and avocado… and when I say my mouth is watering typing this, I mean it. I devoured it so fast I barely had time to snap a photo. Hot, fresh, and full of flavor — I’m already planning my next trip back for another.

Meet Reann Nickelson – 

The Heart Behind Bread&Brew

Owner Reann Nickelson has been in love with baking since her very first job at a small coffee shop and bakery. “We baked our pastries fresh every morning,” she recalls. That early spark grew into a dream she carried through a degree in business management, a move to St. Louis, and countless early mornings flipping eggs at 5 a.m. — all while writing her business plan in a little notebook.

With determination and the help of Kristy Meyer, owner of Meyer’s Market, Reann brought her dream to life, opening Bread&Brew inside Meyer’s Market in Knob Noster. Today, it’s a welcoming haven for coffee lovers and pastry fans alike.

What Makes Bread&Brew Special?

“Everything I can make myself, I do,” Reann says with pride. From focaccia bread to fresh bagels to even the coffee syrups, every detail is crafted with care. Pastries are baked each morning, and hot food items are made to order, ensuring every bite is fresh and flavorful.

The shop’s most popular item? The egg bagel breakfast sandwich — especially with bacon and cheese on an everything bagel. One bite, and you’ll understand why customers keep coming back.

Community, Comfort, and Connection

Bread&Brew isn’t just about great food — it’s about creating a space where everyone feels welcome. Reann lights up when she talks about her regulars, like Bill and Ron, two loyal friends who share coffee and conversation at the same time every morning. “They bring a smile to my face each day,” she says.

Families are encouraged to sit and stay awhile, browse the shop, and enjoy a peaceful start to their morning. There’s even a full library in the back — a little surprise that makes Bread&Brew extra special.
