The Gathering
Coffee House
Celebrating 1 Year of Community, Coffee & Connection
What makes a coffee shop more than just a place to grab your caffeine fix? For Will and Mallory Grauberger, the answer is simple: purpose, people, and a little bit of faith.
Located at 108 Broad Street in Warrensburg, The Gathering Coffee House has become a true home away from home... not only for UCM students but for anyone seeking warmth, connection, and a safe space to gather. And this month, they’re celebrating their first birthday!
How It All Began
Mallory’s vision for The Gathering started long before the first latte was ever poured. As a college student at Missouri State University in Springfield, she discovered a local coffee shop called Potter’s House, a cozy spot that offered more than just drinks. It was a late-night haven where students could study, share conversations, and form lifelong friendships.
When Mallory transferred to UCM, she quickly realized something was missing: there was no similar place in Warrensburg that stayed open late and encouraged that same sense of belonging. “Everything in town closed by 2 PM, and the only option left was the campus library,” she recalls.
Fast forward a few years, and the idea for The Gathering Coffee House had fully taken root. With prayer, persistence, and the support of her husband Will (and their pastor friends at Coffee Sknobs, who offered guidance and training), the dream began to take shape.
The journey wasn’t quick—it spanned several years, countless conversations, and one unforgettable moment of divine timing. “I took a photo of 108 Broad Street three years before we ever opened,” Mallory says. “It was the house I wanted for a coffee shop. When it finally became available, it was exactly three years to the day since I’d sent my husband that photo.”
On January 31st, the Graubergers officially took possession of the building, and by Fall, The Gathering Coffee House opened its doors to the community.
More Than Just Coffee
From the beginning, The Gathering’s mission has been clear: to create a space where people feel at home and experience the love of Christ, one cup of coffee at a time.
It’s not just about serving great drinks (although they do that incredibly well!). It’s about building relationships, creating memories, and offering a safe alternative for students looking for positive ways to connect.
- Weekly Worship Nights almost every Friday, filling the house with music and fellowship.
- Thursday Activity Nights during the UCM school year offer students fun, uplifting alternatives to traditional nightlife.

Faith + Community = Heart
If you’ve ever wondered what makes this coffee house different, it’s the heartbeat behind everything they do. It’s a place where you can walk in for a latte and walk out having experienced something deeper...community, kindness, maybe even prayer.
One of Mallory’s favorite moments? “A customer prayed over one of our staff members, and then another customer joined in. Suddenly, prayer started breaking out throughout the shop.”
Kelsey’s Take
While The Gathering Coffee House politely declined an in-house feature review, I can’t let this milestone go by without sharing my personal love for what they do. Their Cookies & Cream Latte (hot or iced) and Vanilla Bean Scones are, hands down, some of the best treats you’ll find anywhere. I had never even tried a scone before theirs—and now, honestly, I don’t care to try anyone else’s because these are pure perfection.
Beyond the menu, I love the heart and mission behind this coffee house. Will and Mallory are genuine, faith-filled people who care deeply for our community. If you haven’t visited yet, go see why The Gathering isn’t just a coffee shop—it’s a movement of connection, faith, and good vibes. See you there!
