A Cozy December Recipe:
Snow Day Edition
There’s something magical about the first real snowfall in Warrensburg — the hush over the fields, the glow from downtown lights, and that sudden school text message that says, “Early release today, COME GET YOUR KIDS!”
So as the snowflakes drifted past our windows last week, it just felt right to share a little cozy magic. And nothing brings families together faster than warm cinnamon rolls… especially when they’re turned into Muffin-Tin Cinnamon Swirls that bake in half the time.
Ingredients
- 1 can refrigerated cinnamon rolls
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- Small handful of festive sprinkles (My youngest Weston loves sprinkles)
- Optional: diced apples or pecans
How to Make Them
- Preheat your oven to 350°.
- Spray a muffin tin lightly.
- Unroll each cinnamon roll, cut in half, and coil each half into its own “mini swirl.”
- Place two mini swirls per muffin cup.
- Bake 13–15 minutes, until golden and fluffy.
- Remove and drizzle with icing mixed with a splash of vanilla.
My kids call these “snow day rolls” — they’re fast, comforting, and perfect for those slow mornings when the roads are glittering with ice and the heater hums softly in the background.
