Kelsey’s Corner: The Places We Keep Going Back To
I've always believed that places can tell stories.
Not because of the buildings.
Not because of the address.
But because of the memories attached to them.
A place becomes meaningful because of what happens there.
And this past weekend reminded me of that.
Twice.
Some places become part of your story
before you even realize it.

Friday night, sensory dough co., Paige Wright, and Sacred Pastures hosted a Summer Sensory Event.
The evening was calm.
Intentional.
Welcoming.
The kind of event that reminds you people are craving connection more than ever.

Not just activities.
Connection.
Watching people slow down, create, talk, laugh, and simply exist without rushing to the next thing felt refreshing.
And honestly?
We need more spaces like that.

Then came Saturday.
Date night.
Which first requires a very important ingredient:
Amazing people willing to watch your children.
Shoutout to the real MVPs.
You know who you are.
Brett and I headed to Sedalia and tried Volker's for the first time.
And let's just say we learned a valuable lesson.
Never order the full Loaded Kettles for two people.

What arrived was less of an appetizer and more of a small mountain.
A giant pizza-style pan overflowing with fresh kettle chips and toppings.
Every bite was incredible.
The burgers were fantastic.
The wraps were flavorful.
The pretzel sticks and beer cheese disappeared quickly.
And somehow we still ended the evening with ice cream because date night calories don't count.
At least that's what we're telling ourselves.
Driving home, I realized something.
The places we'll remember from this summer probably aren't the ones we planned months in advance.
They're the places connected to moments.
The conversations.
The laughter.
The experiences.
And maybe that's what makes a place special.
Not what it is.
But what happens there.
The best places aren't always the most famous.
They're the ones that become part of your story.
