Before the first parade float rolls down Main Street...
Before the first firework lights the sky...
Before families unfold their lawn chairs...
Someone has already been hard at work.
Actually...
Hundreds of people have.
Community celebrations don't happen by accident.
They're planned by volunteers.
Supported by local businesses.
Protected by first responders.
Organized by civic groups.
Cleaned up by people who quietly stay long after everyone else has gone home.
This week, we'd simply like to say...
Thank you.
To every volunteer.
Every sponsor.
Every city employee.
Every police officer, firefighter, EMT, parks employee, and organizer.
Thank you for helping create the traditions our children will remember for years.
Communities don't build themselves.
People build them.
