And just like that, we're doing it.
The alarm clocks are back.
The backpacks have already lost that brand-new look.
Our calendars are filling up again, dinner still insists on happening every night, and we're slowly remembering how many moving pieces come with a school year.
But here's what I hope you take away from this week's issue:
You don't have to figure it all out at once.
Neither do your kids.
Maybe mornings are still chaotic.
Maybe somebody comes home completely exhausted.
Maybe the routine you were certain would work absolutely does not.
Change it.
Maybe everyone needs fewer plans this weekend.
Cancel something.
Maybe dinner needs to come out of a pizza box.
Order it.
A family rhythm isn't something we fail at because it doesn't look like somebody else's.
It's something we build together.
Maybe the goal isn't getting back to normal.
Maybe it's finding the new normal that fits the people we've become.
So here's to another week of figuring it out.
To the kids learning new classrooms.
To the teachers learning new names.
To the parents relearning morning math.
To the school staff doing a thousand things we may never see.
To the local businesses keeping us caffeinated and occasionally feeding our families when 4:47 p.m. wins.
And to all of us discovering that maybe "finding our rhythm" doesn't mean everything suddenly runs smoothly.
Maybe it just means we know we'll figure out the next beat when it comes.
We're getting there. ❤️
Until next Wednesday,
Kelsey
